How many times have you been sent a spreadsheet template that broke as soon as you tried to make a change? If you didn’t write every formula yourself, templates with even the slightest complexity can be a challenge to edit. It’s a frustrating experience, but it’s not your fault. Templates today don’t have a great way for the builder to pass along the context needed to understand how the template fully works.

As a result, you as the user have to tip toe around making changes that could #REF out the entire sheet.

That's why we built Preview Mode — a simplified interface that enables collaborators to use any file without needing to know how it all works. With this mode, templates become easy to use because there are no guardrails around what cells the original author want you to update and where you can add rows or columns.

Preview Mode

Enable collaborators to use the file without needing to know how it all works! We’ve hid the toolbars, removed the row numbers, and added guardrails around accidentally breaking the sheet, so everyone can focus on their own changes.Whenever you do want to edit the structure, you can simply switch back into editor mode Will adding a row or column break some formula? You can lock blocks and prevent that from happening. Have a giant table with a bunch of complex calculations? Hide it from preview mode. We want you to be able to create powerful automated spreadsheets that you can share with others.
